In the Metro & State section on Friday, April 22,
Pastor Charles Peterson is shown washing the foot of a parishioner during the
Maundy Thursday service. Christians believe Jesus washed the feet of the
apostles at the Last Supper, a tradition at the time in which the host would
especially honor his guests by humbling himself to wash their feet, instead of
having a servant perform the task.
